Interaction with Dr. Pratyoush Onta on “Plagiarism and Its Consequences: Revisiting Thesis Writing, Research and Publishing”

TU-PNC, 6 Feb. 2017 – Dr. Pratyoush Onta, Research Director at Martin Chautari, interacted with the Faculty and the students of M.Ed. who are writing their theses on 4 Jan. 2017. The interaction was organized by the Department of Education and chaired by HoD Khim Raj Subedi.

Dr. Onta spoke on the topic of “Plagiarism and Its Consequences: Revisiting Thesis Writing, Research and Publishing” and said that plagiarism is “a serious breach of research ethics that if committed intentionally is considered research misconduct.” He suggested that it can be avoided by responsible referencing and attribution.

Dr Onta further assured the Department of Education of joining hands between Department of Education at Prithvi Narayan Campus and Martin Chautari, Nepal for collaborative efforts such as trainings, workshops, and seminars in future.

Speaking at the same program, Prof. Dr. Debendra Bahadur Lamichhane, Campus Chief, said, “In research, we should give proper credit to sources that we use in our writing. Such practice can cause a scandal in academia.”

HoD Khim Raj Subedi, concluding the interaction program, thanked Dr Onta for providing the department with an opportunity to listen to him in joyful environment.

The program was hosted by Resham Bahadur Subedi, a faculty at the Department of Education, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Dhruba Khanal, another faculty at the same department.
